Privacy Policy
Last updated ·
This policy covers the TuneTray app and this website. It explains how we (the TuneTray developer) handle information related to your use of these products, and where Apple and other services are involved.
1. Your inbox stays on your device
Original text you enter or paste, matched song metadata, organization status and playlist-write records are stored locally on your device. TuneTray does not upload these inbox records to an inbox server operated by us.
The app contains no advertising or third-party behavioral analytics SDKs. Apple Music search, recognition and artwork loading use the network; local storage does not mean every feature works offline.
2. Apple Music searches and actions
After you save a song name, TuneTray sends the text to Apple Music as a search query and may automatically select the first result. Depending on your permissions and actions, the app reads song information, subscription and access status, editable playlists and a song’s favorite status.
When you play a song, add a favorite or organize songs into playlists, the app makes the corresponding requests to Apple services. Playlist writes send the selected Apple Music catalog song IDs and target playlist IDs to update your cloud music library. TuneTray does not receive your Apple Account password or payment details.
Apple handles information within these services under its own privacy rules. You can manage playlists, favorites and account-related data in Apple Music.
3. Microphone and song recognition
You start recognition while the app is in the foreground, and microphone permission is required. The ShazamKit framework processes surrounding music to identify it, and returned track information is saved to your inbox. Recognition stops when the app leaves the foreground.
Information needed for recognition is processed through ShazamKit under Apple’s relevant data-handling rules. See Apple’s official information below.
4. Artwork and caching
The app loads artwork from image addresses provided by Apple Music or Shazam. Image services receive the network information needed to deliver those images. TuneTray uses Kingfisher to persistently cache artwork on your device and reduce repeat downloads.
Deleting a song record may not immediately remove its cached artwork. The cache is managed separately from inbox records and may remain on the device, subject to cache storage limits and system storage management.
5. TestFlight testing and feedback
Current test builds are distributed through TestFlight. Apple collects beta usage information and crash reports and provides related information to us. Feedback you choose to submit is also shared with us to investigate problems and improve TuneTray.
Apple explains TestFlight’s collection, sharing and retention rules. Before submitting screenshots or feedback, check for information you do not want to share.
6. This website and external links
This website serves static pages without advertising, behavioral analytics scripts, submission forms or remote fonts. To deliver pages, the hosting service may process request or log information such as IP addresses, browser information, access times and request paths.
When you follow links to Apple, TestFlight or other external services, their own privacy rules apply to your use of those services.
7. Retention, deletion and permissions
Local inbox records have no automatic expiry. You can delete records in the app and revoke microphone or Media & Apple Music permissions in iOS Settings. Saved inbox data remains when permissions are unavailable.
Deleting local records does not undo playlist writes or favorite actions in Apple Music, or delete data Apple has already processed. Manage that content in Apple Music or the relevant Apple service. Uninstalling the app does not mean all data in system backups has been deleted.
Artwork follows the caching behavior described above. Data handled by Apple and TestFlight is retained and deleted under the respective services’ policies.
8. Updates and contact
We will publish updates to this policy on this page and revise the last-updated date above.
For privacy questions, open TuneTray in TestFlight and choose “Send Beta Feedback” to contact the TuneTray developer.
